Protesters in Ni'ilin Manage to Open a Gate Long Closed by the Army

Approximately 100 residents and activists in Ni'ilin gathered to protest Israeli construction work in the Gates of the Temple Mount (Bab Al Magharbeh) in Jerusalem. Protesters managed to open an agricultural gate that has been closed for more than six months.

Hundreds of Palestinians marched in order to mark the anniversary. They were met with Israeli tear gas as they have been every Friday for the past three years.

The demonstration marking two years to the critical injury of American protester Tristan Anderson during a demonstration in the village and commemorating the killing of Rachel Corrie, was treated with a serving of tear-gas and concussion grenades.
