Al-Twana Protests Demolitions and Settlement Expansion

Protesters from across South Hebron Hills gathered in al-Twana to protest the recent destruction of water wells and house demolitions, as well as the planned expansion of an adjacent settlement.

Approximately 30 people from the villages of al-Twana, Yatta, Beit Ummar and Susya, together with international activists, joined together to demonstrate against a recent additional grab of Palestinian land for the new Jewish settlement Amnir, an outpost of the settlement of Susya.

In the morning of the demonstration a group of settlers fom Susya invaded al-Twana, attempting to drive one family out of its house by force. In the past few weeks the Civil Administration has demolished a number of houses and water wells in the village, supposedly in order to build a settler road to the new expansion.
