Bulldozers being driven away by protesters
This morning, residents of the West Bank village of Deir Qaddis noticed Israeli bulldozers working on their lands near Rout 446, apparently to pave a new road to the Jewish-only settlement of Nili.
At approximately 1:00 PM, villagers accompanied by activists from nearby villages went down towards the bulldozers, who have already advanced a significant distance of a few hundred meters away from Route 446 and into the lands. The protesters approached the vehicles, blocking their path and disrupting the work. The contractor, in turn, started throwing stones at the people but was eventually forced to pull back the bulldozers back towards Route 446.
As soldiers arrived, it turned out that construction was being carried out without a permit. The army tried holding the line, but eventually could not prevent the demonstrators from reaching the bulldozers again and forcing the contractor to drive the bulldozers away from the scene.
