Hundreds of protesters joined the demonstration in Kufer Qaddum against land grab and commemorated Palestinian deceleration of independence.

The village of Qaddum, has recently decided to join other villages in the West Bank and organize weekly demonstrations against the occupation. In Qaddum, ongoing and extensive land grab has been taking place, as well as severe violations of their freedom of movement. Settlers of the adjacent settlement Kedumin have been long taking over privately owned Palestinian land in a manner that even the Israeli civil Administration called "theft". Moreover, since the beginning of the second Intifada the main road leading to the town has been blocked by the army, largely impeding transport in and out of town.

This week, the demonstration commemorated the declaration of Palestinian independence carried out 23 years ago by PLO chairman Yasser Arafat in Alger. Approximately 500 protesters from across the West Bank, as well as Israeli and international supporters, joined the protest this week. The army placed barbed wire on the main road before the demonstration started, to halt the march. Throughout the demonstration, military brigades stood behind the wire while protesters remained on the other side. For the most part, peace was maintained, however at a certain point the army started shooting tear gas canisters and was answered by stone throwing. Both did not persist long, mainly due to the weather which led protesters to disperse.
