Before, she was questioned by the Israeli immigration service.

The detention of 28-year-old Eva Novakova has also been announced by the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) on its website. It said Novakova has worked for it as a media coordinator for several past weeks.

Israeli soldiers, along with the police immigration unit, raided Novakova´s flat in Ramallah in early hours today, ISM writes.

Novakova´s defence lawyer Omer Shatz emphasises on the ISM website that the Israeli immigration police stand under the jurisdiction of the Israeli Interior Ministry and thus wield no power on the occupied Palestinian territories.

This arrest is part of the continuing unlawful abuse of immigration police against activists, for political purposes, Shatz told AFP.
