Dear Consul General Daniel Rubinstein,

I have recently learned of the arrest of prominent Palestinian grassroots organizer, Abdallah Abu Rahmah. Abu Rahmah was arrested and is awaiting trial for his participation in the peaceful demonstrations in the West Bank village of Bilin.

Bilin, just like Abu Rahmah, has become a symbol of peaceful, unarmed Palestinain resistance to the occupation. Despite an advisory opinion to the United Nations issued in 2004 by International Court of Justice in the Hague rulling that the route of Wall was illegal, and despite a specific order from the Isreli High Court of Justice, which ruled in September 2007 that the wall must be rerouted around Bilin, the Wall did not move by even an inch.

As my representative to Israel, I implore you to investigate his detention by submitting an official letter of inquiry about Abu Rahmah's case. As a believer in justice, I cannot sit idly by as Abu Rahmah and his fellow villagers are denied even the basic right to protest the illegal theft of their land. I will continue to contact you about this important matter.
