At around 1 am, a group of settlers entered Susiya, set fire to an old tire and threw it against the outside wall of the large test. The owner, who was awakened by the smoke, was able to escape the tent and move a gas bottle that was placed near the fire. Once out of the burning tent, the man saw some torch lights in the valley below the village heading toward the settlement of Susiya.

When Israeli army and police arrived, after being alerted by the villagers, the lights were still in sight but the forces did not bother to pursue them.

The owner of the tent, who was inside it when the fire began, had to be evacuated to the hospital to treat the effects of smoke inhalation.

This is the last of several acts of violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers against the village of Susiya. A similar incident took place on December 28th last year, when settlers set fire to another tent. Both attacks seem to be part of the settlers' attempt to push Palestinians out of their lands in order to allow for settlement expansion.
